Welcome to the home of the Castor Neighbourhood Plan and the Ailsworth Neighbourhood Plan.
We are two Parishes and one community. Castor and Ailsworth Parish Councils decided in 2014 to work as a single team to produce two linked Neighbourhood Plans. A Steering Committee formed in March 2015 and the work began from July. The Final Plans were adopted by Peterborough City Council on 13 December 2017 following an overwhelmingly vote YES to accepting the neighbourhood Plans in a referendum among residents of both villages on the 2 November 2017.
How to use this website:
You will find the Final and adopted copies of the Neighbourhood Plans for Castor and Ailsworth plus all the documents which constitute the evidence to support the plans. The independent examiner’s reports prepared in September can be found here for Castor and here for Ailsworth. The consultation results can be found in the consultation tab. The supporting policies and evidence documents can be found in the evidence tab.
Using Neighbourhood Plans to impact planning?
These plans now form a formal part of the planning process sitting alongside Peterborough’s Local Plan for any development taking place in Castor parish and Ailsworth parish.
The Parish councils for Castor and Ailsworth are now looking at the implementation of the Neighbourhood Plans and the development of a Joint Community Action Plan. As information becomes available about these developments it will be posted on this site.
As part of the neighbourhood planning activity we were involved with commissioning further work to fully understand the parishes landscape setting. This work is published here (link to a new tab)
